Initial research on wind turbine specs and designs, project planning leading towards 3-D designs, resulting in thorough testing of printed model.

Project Overview

Designed a wind turbine from scratch, selecting the specs and features that would prioritize structure and rotation. Ran several online trial runs and weight load management before printing the final product and testing it via real life scaled-down simulations.

Feel free to take a look at some work samples below!

Project Industry: Industrial Energy

Project Type: Industrail Design and Manufacturing

Project Length: 5 months

Key Actions
  • Initial research used to identify the nuances of certain design strucutres and find out which structures help prioritize which end results

  • Project sketches outlining the shape and dimensions for the proposed model

  • Built the inital model using CAD, created 2 different versions and then ran online simulated testing to select the one with better load management

  • Used school printers and workshopping equipment to print and modify the 3-D model

  • Ran thorough weight management and weather simulation tests on the turbine to identify and track overall success related KPIs

Tools Used
  • SolidWorks (CAD)

  • MATLAB

  • 3-D Printing
